    Yes,we are aware that the connector sucks a little :), we are giving priorities to other things, like Muster 6 actually, but the redesign of the submission tools is something in the TODO list!

    /bin/sh should be linked by default to bash….or not ?

    Well, the install script of the linux distribution let you install the basic files. But keep in mind that we do not provide an init.d script for ubuntu, so you’ll need to make it manually if you want to autostart the Dispatcher.
    About Windows, just follow the manual instructions to setup the renderclients on your nodes.

    Just launch the services applet, there you can start the services, and install them as system services if you prefeer.
    After starting the renderclient, connect to it using the management console on Win to configure them further.

    That’s all.

    About your config, you’ve to prepend the template id section like:

    [1]
    ENABLED = 1
    MAYAEXECUTABLE = /Applications/Autodesk/maya2008/Maya.app/Contents/bin/Render
    MAYASTARTINGFOLDER = /Applications/Autodesk/maya2008/Maya.app/Contents/bin/

    for the maya-sw template.

    Try a direct contact with vvsupport@vvertex.com when you’re in urge with a question, the forum is not checked daily…
    Use the management console from a PC machine, just to be sure you configure it in the right way. Another way is using the autoscan feature in the services applet.

    We tested internally and there should be no fix needed in the final version. Bard, I’ve answered your post, coudl you give me more detail about your issue on vvsupport@vvertex.com ? I’m not aware of malfunctions in the timetable and the logon detection.

    Check with the management console configuration. Maybe the client is waiting the packet termination, this is configurable flag too.

    Avoid using spaces inside your file/folder strucute. I.e. rename Tuesday Render Patches to Tuesday_Render_Patches.

    “share balance” is a big word ;) Muster splits multiframe renderings across the farm, for your apps 3DS Max,LIghtwave and AFX, it’s perfect.

    Yes, uncheck the “broadcast presence” flag. It won’t change anything in the functionalities.

    There’s a bug in the installer, when you install the Dispatcher-only, the runtimes required for the service control are not installed. You can copy them manually from a machine where you installed the renderclient, or just make a complete installation, then stop the “renderclient” service.
