So, with some help from the man himself, Leonardo, we now have Maya 2010 and Mental Ray for Maya 2010 running on our renderfarm using Muster 5.3.

It turned out that i was making a couple bad commadline calls to Maya to get the MR running correctly.

    Hi.

I have successfully gotten Maya 2010 to run using Muster 5.3. We currently have it running on 20 nodes. It is working splendidly with Maya for MR too!

    Update…
    Now I am receiving the following message from Muster;

[MUSTER]Spawning process C:Program FilesAutodeskMaya2010binRender.exe inside C:Program FilesAutodeskMaya2010bin using the following command line flags:
    [MUSTER]-r -mr -rd “Q:AAA” -n -rt 4 -proj “D:PROJECTSLAT_sept09″ -s 16.000 -e 19.000 -b 1.000 -rfs 17 -rfb 1 -pad 1 “D:PROJECTSLAT_sept09scenesAnalog_TransitionsLER_docking_LERLER_docking_LER_color_2010.mb”

Cannot open renderer description file “-mrRenderer.xml”

[MUSTER]Process terminated with the following exit code: 208

The -mrRenderer.xml file is in the same directory as the swrenderer.xml file, which it reads fine (since I don’t get errors on sw rendering).

    Hi,
I am setting up Muster with the farm now. The software renders with Maya 2010 work as they did before. I am still trying to figure out the mental ray setup. For some reason the job loading times out in Muster while mental ray is doing the final gather passes.

I have been able to get Maya 2010 to begin a mental ray render using Muster on on the first node (I am starting with one node to make sure it works).

The problem now is that one frame is rendered and saved, the second image begins and then Muster reports a “Job Start timeout” error.

The node processes the job fine as a command-line render.

    Any thoughts?
    Thanks,
    Jeff

edit: It looks like the Muster ‘Status’ stays at ‘Starting’ and never switches to a rendering flag.

The problem is that the image does not write to the directory, even though the others in the chunk do, and the job chunk is then re queued and the previously rendered frames are overwritten.

Here is a clip from the render log file.

    Thanks!
