Muster trying to render to the wrong maya

    When I go into the dispatcher, right click on the node, and go to configuration, configure, templates, and down to Maya arnold. this is what it shows:

    If I try to edit it, it edits, but then when I do a soft restart of the node, it goes back to the above settings.
    The nodes do not have maya 2017.. they have maya 2018 and I have run the scan this machine from each node.

    The current way to configure the Renderclient is through Console as you’re already doing.
    If changes are not saved, this is due to the configuration of the renderclient service itself. Did you configure it using a specific user account during the installation (or after the installation using the services system control panel) ? If so, there’s a change the user is not able to write the rc.conf, and this is the reason of the changes not saved when you restart the service.
    You can either double check the user permission against the machine (for a full working environment, we suggest to make the user an administrator of the machine, so you won’t hit those kind of problems), or if security is not a concern for you, give Everyone full read/write access to the rc.conf, but this off-course expose a security risk.

    That’s not working. these are windows 10 machines, but i get the same error on windows 7.

    The service is using a user called Render, which is a local administrator on all the nodes.
    I have made render the owner of the c:\program files\virtual vertex\ folder, and made sure he had full access.
    if I go to configure the node, and type in something. it doesn’t stick after a soft reboot.
    If I go into the node, and go to c:\program files\virtual vertex\muster 9\templates\ and edit maya_arnold.py I can save it, but when i go back into the muster console and try to look at the configuration, it still shows it’s looking for maya2017

    the rc.conf file on the node is accurate, but seems to be ignored?

    When I ran the Muster Console as administrator on the dispatcher machine, that seemed to have allowed me to change and read the appropriate maya_arnold.py file on the dispatcher. Very weird. it seems to be ignoring what’s on the nodes, and just looking at the Muster console machine.

    Now, when I try and submit a job to the maya render nodes. It just goes to Progress On Queue and stays there.

    First of all, you should never change a template on a render client. I do not see any reason to tweak a template to solve your issue. By the way, templates are stored on the Dispatcher and changed on it (or using Console), and then after the change, are automatically updated and streamed on the renderclient.
    Now about your recent problem, it’s possible that you’ve deactivated the Maya arnold support on the Renderclient and that’s why the job is not starting.
    You can try the following:

    1 – Right click on a node and select supported templates, check that Maya Arnold is effectively enabled.
    2 – Configure the renderclient, and under templates->Maya arnold, be sure the check box at the top is selected, otherwise the render engine is disabled for that particular node.
    3 – Send us the rc.conf of that client that’s not rendering.

    I’ve not understood well if now you can store the changes after you configure a client
