Generic script vs. Generic broadcast script

    Hi,

We just bought Muster for a our small(ish) farm and I’m curious on how to set up a renderfarm to execute a generic script ONCE without specifying the machine/host. The broadcast script appears to tell EVERY machine to execute it and the Generic script requires a specific host.

I can’t find the answer in the doc nor the forums. Am I missing something?

The generic script purpose is exactly to send a script in broadcast mode, or to a specific host. If you want to send a specific job/command just to one random host, you may want to make your own template, declare it as MULTIFRAME, and avoid any start/stop/endframe field into the submission panel, this will make a 1/1/1 multiframe job, that in the end, will be processed by the first host available!

    Ok.

We’ve been using “-si 1 -max 1” and that appears to work with broadcast node – the job is only executed once on one node. The probably is that even if a machine/host has 2,4,8 instances it only runs one job…. I will consider making a MULTIFRAME template.
