Good Morning.
I have recently purchesed an upgrade from Muster 4.52 to Muster 5.11 and have recieved my unlock code.
I am familier with Muster as I have been using it for about a year now.
Before I had touched the Muster 5.11 Install I have had ALL instances of Muster 4.52 removed from all render nodes and our server.
Here is how it goes:
I sit down at the computer I want to act as our Muster Server
(ip 192.168.0.5)I choose to install Muster as “Server, Client, Client GUI and command line tools”
I choose to install as System Services.
I leave all Network Configurations Default
I insert User name, Company name and Unlock Code.
I insert the IP of the Server Computer (192.168.0.5) – I leave all socket ports Default.
Under username I put “Muster” which is a user setup on the domain as an Administrator (and also a local Admin over the entire farm) and put in the password for this user.
I install Muster. I restart.
I modify the “Muster Dispatcher Service 5” to have the correct user name and password (from above)
I modify the “Muster Render Client Service 5” to Disabled and Stop the service.I launch Muster Explorer > Connect as:
Dispatcher IP: 192.168.0.5 (the render manager computer)
User Name: Muster
Password: (the pass for Muster User)Connect!
And then an error comes onto the screen saying: “Dispatcher service was unable to authenticate your login. Check your username and password and try again.”
I click OK and it crashes to Desktop.
We have had 3 System Admins try to solve this problem and so far there is no luck… Please help!!

Seems that if you “Skip User Setup” during installation then configure the Muster Dispatcher Service 5 to Log In as a system admin it works…
Lots of other flaky bugs though… didn’t spend much time developing Lightwave eh Muster admins??
17th March 2007 at 8:11 pm #14625We are aware of some installation issues and we’ll fix them as soon as possible. By the way, there’s again a little confusion about user names. The user specified to launch the Windows services is related to the OS only. The user prompted by Muster explorer is related to the MUSTER internal user management. By the default , you should log as “Admin” with a blank password and then configure the accounts.

I installed muster server and also render farm but in workstation I have some problems. During client installation in service start this error is appear:” error 1920, service muster render client service 5 failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to started system service.”
thanks
26th June 2007 at 5:41 pm #14700By the time of your writings, any kind of installation issue has been solved. If you get this kind of error, it means there’s a problem with the user created or assigned to the service.
try to install Muster as console application and check it’s working. then move on the service install again.
you can tell the Installer to use a customer user and leave the fields blank, this will install the services using the builtin windows account, then you can change it manually through the service control panel applet.
28th June 2007 at 1:03 pm #14702Dear Leonardo Bernardini
I did your recommandation to install muster as console application.it works but how I can move it to service install again.
and also, how can I change account in the service panel applet.because in windows managment service there isn’t muster application when muster is installed as a console application.
and I submit one maya project for rendering but there are some chunk error message” exit code 208 differ from expected code 0″
would you please guide me how I can find muster error report to fix it?thanks
28th June 2007 at 3:10 pm #14703If you get an exit code that differs from 0, it means that the mayabatch executable is failing to render.
You can find the log of each batch render session inside the “log” folder of the renderclient installation folder.
Check the reason of the failure and move on the service installation when you find the reason.
You can install the service manually from the command line using:
dispatcher -i
renderclient -iAfter installing the services, locate them in the control panel and change the user according to your network permission settings.
Regards.
29th June 2007 at 10:00 am #14704Dear Bernardini,
thanks for your guide.
I recheck our network and softwares regarding to user manual(pdf file),
but when I try to render a Maya project there is another error. this is as follow:[MUSTER]-r mr -v 4 -rd “\FileserverFTPnimaGalaxyimages” -proj “\FileserverFTPnimaGalaxy” -s 5.000 -e 8.000 -b 1.000 -rfs 5 -rfb 1 -pad 1 “\FileserverFTPnimaGalaxyscenesnima.mb”
Starting “C:Program FilesAutodeskMaya8.5binmayabatch.exe”
Error: File not found.: //Fileserver/FTP/nima/Galaxy/scenes/nima.mb
Error: Cannot load scene “\FileserverFTPnimaGalaxyscenesnima.mb”. Please check the scene name.
// Maya exited with status 209[MUSTER]Process terminated with the following exit code: 211″
I check our admin permission to read/write and also delete. what do you think about that?another question is about after effect 7. I installed AE7.0 with QuickTime 7 pro.if I want to render one AE project this error is appear:
[Support Files using the following command line flags:
[MUSTER]-v ERRORS_AND_PROGRESS -output “\Fileserverftpshote 3 86-4-5 Saeedtest.avi” -project “\FileserverFTPshote 3 86-4-5 Saeedshote 3 -2 86-4-5 Saeed.aep” -comp “12” -s 25 -e 28aerender Error: After Effects error: Unable to call openFast because of parameter 1. Path is not valid. Path: \FileserverFTPshote 3 86-4-5 Saeedshote 3 -2 86-4-5 Saeed.aep
After Effects: QuickTime functions will be disabled because a compatible version of QuickTime could not be found.[MUSTER]Process terminated with the following exit code: 9
and also this error:
MUSTER]-v ERRORS_AND_PROGRESS -output “\Fileserverftpshote 3 86-4-5 Saeedtest.avi” -project “
\FileserverFTPshote 3 86-4-5 Saeedshote 3 -2 86-4-5 Saeed.aep” -comp “12” -s 17 -e 20
aerender Error: After Effects error: Unable to call openFast because of parameter 1. Path is not valid.I just try to install service manually in dos command line but didn’t work. but in Muster folder there is a clientrender.exe, Mrtool and Ms user Adder. what are their applications?
thanks and regards
1st July 2007 at 1:03 pm #14705Some hints about your post:
1) The error you get from Maya and After Effects is caused by account file permissions. I cannot understand from your post if you’re running the renderclient.exe as a windows service or console application. If you’re running them as services, you’ve to check the user assigned to the services and be sure that it’s able to read/write from your shared folder (\Fileserver). As I said before, the first thing to do should be stopping the service and run it as a console application (just double click the renderclient.exe). this will force the client to act as the logged user. If everythings works, then move on the services troubleshotting.
2) You should avoid spaces inside paths. Even we support it, some engines may lead to errors when parsing the command line. So , your folder “shote 3 86-4-5 Saeed” should be renamed according
3) Keep in mind that you won’t be able to render AVI/Quicktime files using a renderfarm. The codecs used in such kind of applications requires a knowledge of previous frames, so, you’ve to render to a file sequence and assemble the frames to avi/quicktime using a compositing application or a simple frame builder.
Hope this helps, by the way, I suggest you to read the manual carefully. those topics are well covered inside.
Regards.
2nd August 2007 at 3:40 pm #14718Hi Leonardo
I have tested your recommandation but not solving problem , I should describe my network :
I have a workgorup net with EMC AX-150i (with iscsi host controller) it’s attached to a hp Proliant DL-360 server by NIC and microsoft iscs initiator software.
If I copy my maya project on every other computer instead of
EMC AX-150i as a storage Muster would work properly .
but if i copy it on EMC AX-150i I got this error:
“MUSTER]Process terminated with the following exit code: 211”
I’m looking forward to hearing from you
Thanks20th August 2007 at 11:29 pm #14729then that’s clearly an account problem. How do you configured the Muster account for the services ? Also, is Muster installed on the server hosting the files ? If no, then the default Muster account is not created , and you should run the MsAddUser.exe utility included in any installation….
