    Hello,

We’re trying to get the basic framework setup for Muster. We are running the dispatcher service in a Windows Server VM. I’ve attempted to add a password to the generic “admin” account for security. However, the new password is only active while the service is running. If I trigger a soft restart within the application (Management –> Soft-restart Dispatcher) or restart the service manually, the settings are not saved. This occurs also when creating new accounts and adding passwords to those accounts. All settings that are made are wiped.

The dispatcher service is on a different subnet than the rest of the render nodes. The render nodes can receive the “notification” prompts and connect to the dispatcher, but the dispatcher service does not see the render nodes in the instance view. All render nodes are running Windows 10 Pro. The dispatcher computer is running Windows Server 2012 R2.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks,

    Eric

I believe I resolved the issue with settings not being saved. The account used to start the service was not in the Administrator group. After adding the account to the Administrator group and restarting the service, the accounts I added were retained after a soft-restart and stopping/starting the service manually.

I’ve been able to add two of the three render nodes to the dispatcher. I was editing the wrong configuration file — The Muster Notificator one instead of the Muster Services Control one. One of the render nodes is just stuck on the status “Willing to connect” but goes no further. I’m going to look at the firewall rules for that node to see if anything is different.

I was able to get the 3rd render node to be detected. There were two consecutive periods in the hostname that I missed. It was difficult to see remotely as the two periods blended together in the Muster Services Control GUI. I found it when viewing the config file in Notepad.

    Making progress!

    Hi Eric,

Thank you for posting, let us know if you need further help, but I see you’re making the good progresses by yourself.

    Have a nice day !
