    So I’ve reinstalled muster to reconfigure the dispatcher on a different computer and to also utilize services mode instead of console mode, however, I cannot get my Windows 7 machine to appear in the Instances view. I have my xp machine up and running but when I run a scan for hosts it does not give me my windows side. I also have tried to register the host via direct IP address and via network discovery. Any suggestions? Am I forgetting to enable something on the 7 side? It should be a service and already running. I appreciate the help. Thanks.

    Edit ->

    I can add the computer manually via network discovery and IP address however it shows only one CPU when it should be showing 8 also, the instance colored orb is grayed out and does not allow me to resume/apuse/kill/refresh etc. Any ideas?

    Thanks.

    Something just occurred to me and I switched the intstallations around again. Can the 32-bit side of Muster run and detect 64-bit render clients and utilize them for the render farm? If anyone can claim or deny this that would be great. Thanks.

    Hi Bryant,

    I currently have a 32-bit environment only so I’m not able to confirm or deny a mixed-mode environment. I am curious what the answer is though as I have plans to upgrade all our clients to 64-bit Windows 7. If the 32-bit console is not capable of working with 64-bit clients I may have to postpone the 64-bit client upgrade.

    Thanks,
    Dan

    Well Dan,

    I am currently working the 32-64 environment fine. However when I had the dispatcher node configured on the windows xp 32-bit side it would not allow the Windows 7 64-bit machine to show up. But when I reconfigured the installations and set the Dispatcher on the 64-bit side, it allowed the 32-bit side to render out. What’s strange is the render farm has not utilized the 64 bit machine while rendering, even though it is showing green and ready to render. It just sits there idle, and that’s the only issue I’m having as of right now — is utilizing that machine also as a render client, while it’s configured for the dispatcher service.

    Hope this helps.

    Guys, 32/64 mixed operations are fully supported. Muster really doesn’t care about the platform. the issue you’re experiencing are mostly due to a configuration problem as I explained in another post here. Check that the automatic engine scan during the installation found the path to your render engine, your machine may stay idle cause unconfigured,
