Was a solution ever found to this problem? I’ve run into this with both 3DS Max 2008 and 2009. If I submit a job with 100 frames to 4 or 5 workstations, usually one or two of the workstations will generate this error and stop working.

Here is the log file form one of them:

    [MUSTER]Spawning process C:Program FilesAutodesk3ds Max 20093dsmaxcmd.exe inside C:Program FilesAutodesk3ds Max 2009 using the following command line flags:
    [MUSTER]-v:5 -workPath:”C:DOCUME~1musterLOCALS~1TempMusterTemp_1″ -start:69 -end:72 -nthFrame: 1 “\sfo303ds03TECHNOLOGYTemporary StorageRenderTestProject1riley_roadster_TestAnim7.max”

    8/13/2009 15:52:24 PM; Parsing scene: “\sfo303ds03TECHNOLOGYTemporary StorageRenderTestProject1riley_roadster_TestAnim7.max”
    8/13/2009 15:52:25 PM; Error opening scene file: “\sfo303ds03TECHNOLOGYTemporary StorageRenderTestProject1riley_roadster_TestAnim7.max”

[MUSTER]Process terminated with the following exit code: 3

Do you have limited client access ? This machine, sfo303ds03 is it a server based OS or a client like Windows XP ? Remember that you’ve about 5 concurrent accesses enabled on a standard client share.
