Management Console – service access – Vista Render Nodes

    Hi Leonardo,

    Our render farm used windows xp and windows vista client nodes on a windows server 2003 domain and it works with the xp machines.

    The problem is to correctly reach vista nodes. I opened com ports used by Muster and add permission to executables, but nothing. Their service is still “unavailable” in the management console.

    Vista is a pain, the Windows RPC system goes through the UAC (User access control) of windows Vista, so to have it working, you need to completely disable the UAC (that may lead to security issue) and give full permissions to the remote user.

    Consider we are completely unsatisfied with the way Vista has been build, we are going to bypass WinAPI completely in upcoming Muster 6 to address such kind of issue.
