Parent jobs under jobs

    Right now, Muster 9.0.14, we can parent jobs to folders but there’s no support for parenting jobs to other jobs.
    In our case we submit a render job and then we submit a second publish job that’s dependent on the render job.
    It would be nice if we could parent the publish job under the render job in the UI in order to make it a bit cleaner as right now we get the render and publish jobs next to each other which quickly fills up the UI.

    We will also have the same situation with our Nuke renders where we submit a nuke render job, followed by a quicktime job, thumbnail job and publish to fTrack job and it would be nice if the three extra jobs could be “collapsed” underneath the render job.

    For the logic Muster is implemented, jobs parent of other jobs are not possible at the moment. Have you considered Multi-task templates ? you can schedule multiple different tasks in different chunks into a single job, and have a complete resume in the chunks view.

    Yes, look for the Maya multitask validation shipped template, it shows you how to perform a pre-job check on the dependancies using a single task job, then chain a multi-chunk job (like frames rendering), and then perform a job end using again a single task job.. it should fit your needs.
