Maya Submit Script Hand Holding (no replies)

Hi folks,

I'm new to Muster and need help setting it up so I can submit render layers from Maya 2008.
The steps I've read have been a bit hard to follow, particularly because I have to figure out how things work without admin rights (IT dep't within a corporation).
Is there a step-by-step guide somewhere that includes a submit script and all the installation details necessary to get this to work somewhere?

Specific questions:
Do I need to reinstall Muster to incorporate Maya (Muster is installed currently but with no integration with Maya).
Is there a Mel script/plugin available for submitting jobs?
Can I submit MR .mi files using a mel submit script?

(Maya 2008, Muster 5.5.8)

Thanks tons in advance...

I'd like some help on the best deployment for c4d 11.5 on my muster render farm. should i just install the render 11.5 client , or do i have to install the whole bundle suite, we have the studio bundle? From what i was told muster runs c4d from the command line executable of c4d not the render client executable.

We are using Muster 5.5.6
Hi!
We are using Muster to render Maya MR scenes.
My problem is now that I couldn't find out how to tell Muster to use a Maya.env file which points to our custom Maya plugins and Mental Ray shaders. So we have to copy all the plugins and shaders to each renderfarm machine.

Is there any way to let Muster tell Maya to use a specific Maya.env file?

Thanks in advance!

Hello.

I'm trying to evaluate Muster for use at my University. I've downloaded 5.5.3 but I am having some trouble getting it to work.

I am trying to install it on Windows XP. I have one VM which I would like to use as the Dspatcher and one Dell precision 470 as the render client.

I have encountered two problems so far.

1. On the VM, the installer cannot find my AD domain. When I enter the account as DOMAIN\username I get the error "Server not found. Verify that the specified server exists. The server name cannot be empty". If I click "browse...", and enter the server name or IP, I get the same error. If I click "Browse..." again I get the error "The list is empty".

2. On the Dell workstation, the installation proceeds correctly, but neither the renderclient or dispatcher service will start. If I try to start them manually through "Computer Management" I get the error "Could not start the Muster Dispathcer Service 5 service on Local Computer. Error 1069: The service did not start due to a login failure"

Do you have any advice about how I should proceed?
I've noticed that the processor usage statistics in Muster Explorer only work if the user the service is running on the clients has admin rights.
Ram usage works on some host, on some it doesn't. Where it doesn't, even granting admin rights to the user doesn't help.
How does Muster read the processor and ram usage? WMI? Perhaps there is a way to grant the according rights for accessing the cpu stats. As we are running an Active Directory, and sometimes a user needs to log in as renderuser, I wouldn't like to grant this user adminrights.

Good Morning.

I have recently purchesed an upgrade from Muster 4.52 to Muster 5.11 and have recieved my unlock code.

I am familier with Muster as I have been using it for about a year now.

Before I had touched the Muster 5.11 Install I have had ALL instances of Muster 4.52 removed from all render nodes and our server.

Here is how it goes:

I sit down at the computer I want to act as our Muster Server
(ip 192.168.0.5)

I choose to install Muster as "Server, Client, Client GUI and command line tools"

I choose to install as System Services.

I leave all Network Configurations Default

I insert User name, Company name and Unlock Code.

I insert the IP of the Server Computer (192.168.0.5) - I leave all socket ports Default.

Under username I put "Muster" which is a user setup on the domain as an Administrator (and also a local Admin over the entire farm) and put in the password for this user.

I install Muster. I restart.

I modify the "Muster Dispatcher Service 5" to have the correct user name and password (from above)
I modify the "Muster Render Client Service 5" to Disabled and Stop the service.

I launch Muster Explorer > Connect as:

Dispatcher IP: 192.168.0.5 (the render manager computer)
User Name: Muster
Password: (the pass for Muster User)

Connect!

And then an error comes onto the screen saying: "Dispatcher service was unable to authenticate your login. Check your username and password and try again."

I click OK and it crashes to Desktop.

We have had 3 System Admins try to solve this problem and so far there is no luck... Please help!!

Hello,
I've installed the eval-version of Muster5.11 as services and using a domain user (Muster) with local admin priviliges. Machines show up in Manegement Console as "Connected" and I'm able to config them but when expanded, Status is "Unavailable" . No firewalls are active on local machines. No machines show up in the cpu list in Explorer (and not in pools or any other place either). I have some experience of seting up muster4.5 on a similar network and as far as I remember I've done everything the same way (expect this is the eval version).
Any ideas?

v504 install problem on xp64 (7 replies)

We have a Dell PE 1950 xp64, dp xeon5160 box that I am trying to load the Muster504 onto as the server and client gui/ and services. We get the install as far as starting services and it continually fails with "error 1920 service muster dispatcher service 5 (muster_dispatcher) failed to start. Please verify sufficient privileges" it then uninstalls and resets. I am logged on as domain admin and Muster is a domain user which has local admin privilages. The install fails. We have set up v5 on a regular xp Pro (32bit) with no problems to see if there is something wrong with the program or our machines. Any thoughts about xp64?

even with older versions i have never been able to install the muster service or stop or start the service with the muster managment console

some times it asks me to log in if i say "install service" but nothing seems to work
we are on a domain and most of the render nodes are not on the domain
but even the ones that are still won't let you install the service

any thoughts ?
